TESOL English Language Proficiency Exam
Goals and Standards
Students Entrance Evaluations begin with the TESOL English Language Proficiency Exams TELPE, IELTS or TOEFL, and in most cases are followed by face-to-face interviews. Effective educational leaders are trained through higher standards and rigorous evaluations. TELPE is the TESOL Canada format of TESOL applicants evaluation with specific considerations for language teachers.

Following tests are also accepted:
TOEFL iBT=> IBT 110 or higher out of 120.
TWE or Writing score on CBT 5 .5 (Plus) TSE 55 recommended 60
IELTS 7.5 or higher.
CAE, CPE, BEC Higher Cambridge Advanced English (Grade A),
Business English Cambridge Higher Exam (Grade A)
CanTEST Listening, reading, writing 5.0, speaking 5.0
CAEL Band 60 overall, with a min. of 60 in each of the writing and speaking subtests
High schools in Canada, minimum English Grade 12 score of 80%
Completion of an undergraduate degree from an English-speaking university
Common European Framework C1
Canadian Language Benchmarks CLB 9 in each area
TCBE- TESOL Canada Board Exam
The TCBE- TESOL Canada Board Exams are needed from both Native or Non-native Speakers. Graduates from Canadian or International Institutions and Teachers with or without experience shall comply with the TCBE requirement. TESOL Canada Board Exam- TCBE is the Final Exam in a Certification Process that provides validity to graduates' education through an accredited institution of TESOL Canada. Online TCBEs are directly through TESOL Canada. In-Class TCBEs are supervised by our Affiliated International Institutions of TESOL Canada. TCBE is the last step before graduating from a TESOL program.
TASE for EXPERIENCED TEACHERS
Teachers Advanced Standing Evaluation "TASE" is a process through which TESOL Canada can evaluate, validate and credit your Prior Teaching Education and Experience toward completion of a TESOL Certification Program. Once TASE is processed, to become certified and accredited, applicants shall successfully pass the TCBE- TESOL Canada Board Exam.
TCBE FOR ALL TEACHERS
Whether the training was completed in a non-accredited or an accredited TESOL institution, to become certified, applicants shall apply to TCBE. Certified Graduates from TESOL Canada Schools will not require TASE. Graduates from non-accredited schools need to complete TASE before applying to TCBE.
INTERNATIONAL GRADUATES
University degrees completed outside Canada shall follow a Canadian equivalency process either through local Provincial Ministry of Education, Equivalence Québec in Montréal, or the WES evaluation. Once approved, candidates may then apply to TASE. After the completion of TASE process, to receive an accreditation certificate, applicants need to pass the TCBE.

TESOL CANADA's MEMBERSHIP REQUIRES TCBE
Membership in TESOL Canada is a voluntary process with many advantages & benefits mentioned above. Certified & Accredited Teachers through our recognized Institutions or TASE approved Teachers can apply to TCBE & TESOL Canada's Membership. To be certified and accredited, all members will have to comply with TESOL Canada's Board Exam.

TESOL Canada Board Exams For All
Once a Teacher's Education and Experience is evaluated through TASE, to become Accredited, one may consider any of the following options.
Advanced TESOL Certificate
Advanced TESOL Standard includes 300 hours of Theory & Practice. The Theory section is tailored for Adults, TBE- Teaching Business English and TAE- Teaching Academic English. The Advanced program avails employment opportunities both in Canada & Overseas. This program is available for applicants with a degree. Teachers with prior Teaching Experience may be granted Experience Credits. Teachers with existing Academic Education in TESOL or ESL Teaching, may be granted partial Theory Credits. Maximum credits allowed is 50 % of the course.
TESOL TCCT DIPLOMA
TESOL TCCT Diploma Standard “TESOL Canada Certified Trainer” includes 450 hours of Theory & Practice. The Theory is tailored for Adults, Teaching Business English- TBE, Teaching Academic English- TAE, and Teaching English to Children- TEC. TCCT graduates may work as ESL instructors or TESOL Trainers in Canada or Overseas. This program requires a degree to join. Prior Teaching Experience or Academic Education in TESOL or TEFL can grant Practicum or Theory Credits. Maximum credits allowed is 50 % of the course.
POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA in TESOL
Postgraduate Diploma in TESOL includes 650 hours of Theory & Practice tailored for Adults, Business English- TBE, Academic English- TAE, and Teaching English to Children- TEC with TCCT on Postgraduate level. Credits are transferable toward a Master's Degree in an accredited university. Graduates may work as ESL instructors, TESOL Trainers, and Administrators in Canada or Overseas. A degree is needed to join. Prior Experience or Education in TESOL can grant theory or practicum credits. Maximum credits allowed is 50 % of the course.
